Nowadays customers have the option of choosing their utility company the same way they would pick their favorite cellphone provider. Through the power of deregulation, which is freedom from certain governmental regulations which may support monopolies for that industry. However some customers unfortunately have to access service through one provider. This is usually privately owned or the city in which they may reside.
They're all just the same!
Actually all energy companies offer different rates, deals, programs, and incentives. Depending on your choice you could be supporting harmful fossil fuels, nuclear, and coal burning industries. The alternative which are clean energy companies is now an available choice for consumers. There are some companies who pride themselves on being 20 percent clean, while there are some who are completely 100 percent, clean renewable energy.
For example Green Mountain Energy, a fifteen year old company based in Texas, is the only company in the entire state dedicated to being 100 percent clean, and renewable. Since most of the Texas region is deregulated many customers have the option of switching their utility provider from the traditional fossil fuel, coal, and nuclear burning energy generation companies to a cleaner renewable source.
It's all about price!
While the motto "money talks" is still validated to this day, many individuals have the assumption that their receiving the best price on the market. On the other hand, there are also many individuals who do not even know who their energy provider is, let alone how much they may or may not be paying price per kilowatt hour. The information relatively available in this day in age is close to infinite. If a person truly wants to know everything from the facts to the schemes, its nothing but a click of a button away in this modern age.
Taking the time to simple research what these big industries are charging, and planning is the civil right of the customer to be informed at all times. If your energy provider uses dirty methods to receive energy generation, than why would a person confide into something ultimately harming the environment in which they live.
Price may mean everything to an individual, but at the end of the day price isn't everything. Customer service should consist of protecting their customers from harmful practices, giving them the option to choose a cleaner source. If this service is not provided than the customer should really consider this; If the company doesn't care about your life, than why should you consider giving them your money.
One thing Americans do have is choice, now it's time for us to start making a better one.
Remember live clean and think "green".
